5 Days of DIY beauty!

Hi Guys!

Hope you all are doing fine.Today I’m going to share with you the 5 DIY(do it yourself) face packs for beautiful glowing skin. Last week, my skin was getting very dull due to this unpredictable weather which sometimes get extremely hot and humid, and sometimes rainy and windy.

So, I decided to give myself a five day skin pampering session using home remedies for which I tried and tested five different homemade and natural masks. And I was amazed by the results, as you can achieve completely flawless skin just by using home remedies. Now enough with the rambling, let’s get into it.

On the day 1 i decided to go for my all time favorite homemade mask that is, CHOCOLATE FACE MASK. Yes, you heard it right, CHOCOLATE. When it comes to desserts, Chocolate is everyone’s favorite. You may have heard many benefits of eating chocolate but did you know it’s good for your skin too? Well now you do. Its packed with antioxidants that protect your skin from free radical damage, reducing the signs of aging. Now who doesn’t want that right?

  • a tablespoon of cocoa powder
  • a teaspoon of instant coffee powder
  • a teaspoon of aloe vera extract (from aloe leaf, you can skip if, is not available)
  • few drops of lemon juice (you can add it the same amount as above too i.e, one teaspoon)
  • and lastly, a teaspoon of honey

Mix all the ingredients stated above and apply to you face and neck. Let it sit for atleast 15-20 minutes and then rinse off. What I personally do is, I massage it onto my face for mild exfoliation while washing it off.

After washing it off, I felt noticeable difference in my skin just in one application. My skin felt very clean, radiant, soft and moisturized.

Since, it contains lemon and aloe vera too which brightened up my complexion instantly. Whereas, honey had its anti-bacterial and moisturizing properties. Chocolate on the other hand combined with coffee providing caffeine, making it an excellent detoxifier, removing oil and dirt, it sloughs off dead skin cells too making you skin clean and breathable.

This is also a WONDER-MASK for acne-prone skin too, providing its healing, anti-bacterial and lightening properties.

Ps. this is ideal for all skin types.

On the second day, i decided to go for the GRAM FLOUR SCRUB/FACE PACK, ideal for oily and acne prone skin.

  • a spoon full of gram flour (besan)
  • few drops of lemon juice
  • water or yogurt, enough to make a paste (add water if your skin is very oily, else wise use yogurt for moisturizing )
  • half teaspoon or a pinch of turmeric powder (BEWARE, don’t add too much or your skin will turn yellow)

Mix all the above stated ingredients well to form a paste. Now you can either use it as a mask, by applying it onto your face and letting it sit for 10-15 minutes and then rinse it off. Or as a scrub, by applying it onto your face and massaging it using circular motions. That’s what i did.

My skin felt very deep cleansed and soft.

Gram Flour helps reduce the oiliness on you skin.

Turmeric powder has very healing and anti-bacterial properties.

Lemon juice brightens the complexions and lightens/fades the acne spots.

Yogurt moisturizes the skin. Lactic acid present in the yogurt, dissolves the dead skin and tightens the pores.

On the third day, I was feeling a little lazy so, I decided to make a super easy lip scrub. Which requires only two ingredients. Yes, only two.

Lip exfoliation is just as important as the exfoliation of the rest of your skin.
Our body makes new cells and shed the old ones off. Exfoliation helps removing those old ones.
Lip exfoliation makes your lips smoother and softer. It also regulates the blood flow making them more radiant and pink. Try out this DIY lip scrub for softer, healthier and beautiful lips.

  • Petroleum Jelly(i used VASELINE BLUESEAL aloe vera one)
  • White Sugar

Combine these two ingredients, apply to your lips and massage using circular motions. Then wipe it off using a piece of cloth or cotton or simply wash it off. Then apply lip balm or vaseline afterwards.

It made my lips very soft and smooth.

On the fourth day, I wanted to try a new mask that I hadn’t tried before. So, I went for a skin tightening mask using EGG WHITES.

  • 1 egg white
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon or a pinch of turmeric powder

Mix all the ingredients well, and apply to your face. Let it sit for about 15-20 minutes and then wash it off.

My skin felt a little uplifted and tight after using this mask.

Would i try this again?

Egg whites have astringent properties which shrinks yours pores and tighten your skin.

Fifth and the final day of my 5 day pamper session. Since, I loved the results of the chocolate face mask(the first one) I decided to go for another CHOCOLATE face pack.

  • 1 table spoon of cocoa powder
  • 1 tea spoon honey
  • 1 table spoon oatmeal
  • 2 table spoon yogurt

Mix all the ingredients and apply to you face.Let it sit for 15-20 minutes and then rinse it off.

My skin felt very supple, hydrated and glowing. I loved the effect it had on my skin. Or maybe it was the fruitful result of my 5 day long efforts(it only took a minute each day to make these, LITERALLY).

We should definitely pamper our skin once a while as it is the largest organ of our body.

Hope you enjoyed and found it helpful.

Have a nice day.
